Component Aggregations_02-10

basic stacking of components

I began exploring mirroring as a means of creating a secondary component, consisting of the original component

The hope was to develop a secondary component which, when aggregated, allows us a global assymetry

These various secondary components begin to suggest interior space and structure, as well as a variety of complex geometrical conditions that could begin to be seen as decorative or perhaps structural on a simpler level.

The component aggregations also have points from which possible stringy extrusions could begin to occur, supplying the building with a new materiality or perhaps new means of connection between distinct apartments or components.

A study of the possibility of using two spine-like cores as the main structure and circulation of the building, off of which the apartments and other programs would grow.

the central connection point of the "spine" aggregation allows for a conventional stair/elevator core, while the fins begin to suggest facade shading elements, or perhaps even the beginnings of floor plates on alternating levels.
